A tale of dueling immortals, conflicting hearts and love. This came to me in the dead of night so I started writing this!

Through Flame, Death Does Tread

Summary: Death has been sealed away for millennium, what happens when Death enters into a mortal war? A young Immortal of flames verses immortals of wind
water and darkness to seal death away and stop the mortals fighting to save her love.

Chapter one: Before the Dawn

A steady pattering of rain fell as wild wolves howled in morning. Wind whipped a fragile body covered in cuts and bruises, but the soul refused to let go.
It couldn’t let go of a life it had fought so hard in. There were things the young man didn’t want to leave behind but he knew he must, it was the only
way. Death was the only way to survive, there is life in death, no matter how small, no matter how forced, no matter that the people under Death’s wings
were nothing but slaves. All that mattered was gaining a second chance, a second chance with his lover.

A woman rushed towards the man and cradled him against her sobbing, brokenly, bitterly. Water fell from her matted hair over the man’s face and he opened
his eyes to look at her one last time.

“Saluna, It has been done. Everything is going to be alright now.”

“Alright, how will everything be alright! I just found you Aspen and now those fools took you away from me.”

The man called Aspen just smiled, he knew this woman better than anyone. His love would follow him, if for nothing more than to end a life without him.
Yes, Aspen knew that very well. With one last glance at his eternal lover Aspen slipped into Death’s waiting arms, forever to be changed but never forgetting.

With a loud cry of “Aspen” Saluna slumped next to his cooling body, her grief literally killing her.

The gray dawn broke upon two eternal lovers, always seeing but never touching, always near but so far apart.

Chapter two: Shadows of night

Lightening flashed and screams rent the night as night walkers prowled the land. The scent of fresh blood was driving them to madness, madness and lust
were the driving force behind this coven of vampires. Their leader smiled, a truly frightening sight with in itself but made even more frightening because
his fangs were latched onto the neck of a young girl. The screams had stopped a while ago but Damon relished in the fear and pain from her blood alone.
The father lay to one side, beaten and bloody, food for the rest of his kin.

Damon dropped the corpse and stood up. Licking the blood off of his fangs he swept out of the room delighting in the woops and jeers from the rest of his
clan as the bodies were desecrated in many ways, least of which was dodge ball, rape and cannibalism. Entering his bed chambers Damon shrugged off his
cape and turned to face his mirror.

Pulling out a dagger from a belt he tossed it towards the shadow he saw floating near the dresser.

“Now Damon, you don’t want to be unreasonable. You know why I’m here. It is time for your coven to pick a new head. You, my fine little vampy, Death is
waiting, it’s time to die.”

The shadow strolled forward and lifted the chin of the emotionless killer.

“I accept my new master, Death, ruler of the dead realm, feaster of souls,”

Damon had no regrets. He knew what he wanted to do, if he could for fill his lust for blood that was all that mattered. Shadows and Night, they are practically
one and the same, Night heeding the ancient call of death, that is how it was meant to be and always would be!

WOW!I really like this story! Please do write more!
Your attention to detail and images that you've created in the reader's mind are vivid. It's a dark story, albeit a good one!
Keep posting!

Chapter one and two are just introducing the immortals of wind, water and darkness. the main story starts in chapter three. I just wanted to get those characters represented first, because their deaths wouldn't fit in any other way.

Here's chapter three!!

Chapter three: The Forest of Wolves

The sun peeked upon the trees of a forest that was as old as time itself. That was what the towns people believed. It had earned the name Forest of the
Wolves due to the wolves that could often be seen roaming around at night. They weren’t vicious, on the contrary, rather tame. If you went into the forest
on a warm spring day to take a hike, like so many did, it wouldn’t be unusual to see a pare of eyes watching you and hear a furry tail wagging. Many people
wondered what made these wolves so tame and accepting of the human race.

Deep in the heart of the forest, far away from what normal townsfolk ever saw was a clearing devoid of trees so that the bright sun could shine unimpeded.
In this clearing was a house. A simple one floor house with wolf carvings on the door that lead inside. It was rather modern with running water and electricity,
but no visibal lines or generaters or anything, it was as if the house was run soley on magic. That’s what it was actually, a very obscure branch of magic.
The loan teen who lived in the house was of a long lost race of mages, the forest mages. His name was Lance and he combined human technology with magic
to do what most could not. This was the reason he was able to hide in solitude, looking after the creatures that had been a part of saving his life and
the failed attempt on the girl that he loved.

Anai was his firey little angel. She was the only person he let in after the death of his parents twenty five years ago. His parents were the only ones
who understood him, understood what he was and still loved him. He was always feared by the local townsfolk. As hard as he tried to close off his heart
to all human emotions he couldn’t get rid of the girl who was only two years younger than him.

Lance had found her one night in an abandon mill, nearly dead. She was emaciated and covered in bruises and scars. He didn’t know who had done that to her
but there was no way he could let a broken woman like her die, alone on the cold ruthless streets. He had nursed her back to health and after some time
the two had become lovers, It wasn’t a whirlwind romance, but a slow pure love. She had tried to save him but what could be saved from a heart that was
so torn from years of bitterness and isolation. He had watched her head into the forest one day and come back totally changed, as if the sweet Anai was
no more. The woman he had come to love was no more, in her place was a woman, a woman called Shyru!
